Few names evoke more controversy in the history of Star Trek than Harlan Ellison, science fiction writer and author of the original screenplay to TOS favorite, "City on the Edge of Forever." Recently, IDW comics released a 5-issue treatment of Ellison's original story. Does that story hold up after all these years? Was it better than the version that actually aired? Who was correct in the notorious feud between Harlan and Gene Roddenberry? Mike and Barry discuss the history of what's arguably the best episode of Star Trek ever, "City on the Edge of Forever" on Episode 19 of the All Good Things Podcast.
In this episode, Mike and Barry look at several new pieces of real life technology inspired by Star Trek tech - tricorders and communicators - and discuss their possible use and relevance. Then in the main segment, they examine the world of Star Trek theme park and other immersive entertainment attractions: past, present and future. Episode 18 is entitled, "What Will They Think of Next?"
This week Mike and Barry discuss a couple of current news topics, including a proposal to transfer TNG to Wide-screen format, plus current and possible comic book crossovers. Then the main topic moves to the first in a series of Supporting Character profiles with TOS's Montgomery "Scotty" Scott.
