On the heels of the release of the seventh Star Wars movie, "The Force Awakens," Mike and Barry come down off their midichlorian high to take a critical look at the relationship between the two most popular and lucrative science fiction franchises of the 20th/21st centuries, Star Trek and Star Wars. In the mid-80's, Gene Roddenberry decided the time was right for a new Star Trek series and in 1987, Star Trek: The Next Generation was born. Almost 30 years later, iconic actor William Shatner has produced a new documentary detailing the turbulent genesis and first three seasons of the inaugural "modern" Trek series. This week, Mike and Barry discuss the documentary, give their thoughts to its merits and shortcomings, and try to understand the mind behind the Great Bird of the Galaxy.
